Anthology
While the focus was on racerelated intersections, anonymously written prose pieces reveal students’
innermost feelings on how their identity has been shaped during their time at Wheelock.
In order to create the anthology, numerous methods were implemented. One team gathered students’
writing pieces by hosting a table in the main campus building at Wheelock. They offered note cards for
students to write a small statement on how they have felt marginalized on campus. They also used
social media to share some of the students’ responses.
Another team specifically went to various clubs on the Wheelock campus and asked members why
the clubs were created, specifically if they gave voices to any marginalized groups on campus.
Lastly, a team produced a writing workshop to be done in classrooms. The objective of the project was
explained, and the workshop engaged students with a small word hoard activity on the board, in which
“identity"was the central theme. From there, students were asked to write a prose piece
(poem, list, essay, etc.) reflecting on how their identity has been influenced while at Wheelock.
